So now we now whats the importance of backlinks so lets know few techniques to build some.

Get ready to grab some  high quality backlinks from best websites with these 8 proven techniques.

Awesome right !

Lets drive right in

This contains 8 methods that are showing phenomenal results in 2020.

1. Link Roundups

Some people out there publish blog posts with sole purpose of linking to quality content these are called link roundups.

Here is an example of link roundup.

Step by Step process of getting backlinks from this method

1. First find link roundups in your industry

Here are few link strings that work really well                                                                              "Keyword"+"Link roundup"                                                                                                              "Keyword"+ Roundup                                                                                                                         "Keyword" +"Best OF"                                                                                                                        "Keyword"+ This Week                                                                                                                      Just pop these search strings on Google as shown below :

You should find tonnes of roundups. Once you find a link roundup that seems like a good fit just pitch in your content.

Here is the script that I personally use

As you can see this script is neither pushy nor spammy, you are just letting the person know that  your content exists and gently suggest to include it in their next roundup. If your post is a good fit for that persons roundup you'll get a sweet link.

2. Broken Link-Building

This is one of my all time favorite link-building strategies.

When most people build links they send generic requests that add zero value but with broken link building you add value to someone's content then ask for a link

Buzzsumo analyzed a million sites and concluded that broken link building gave much better results as compared to generic emails. Here are the results below:

Now lets see the process step by step

a) First add check my links to Google Chrome. Check my links is a free google chrome extension which allows you to find broken links on any page

b) Find a site you want to get a link from

You may have a few sites in mind if not then just google your keyword and you should find several sites to get a link from.

c) Check for broken links:

To do this visit few pages and run check my links extension this should show you all the broken links on your site . Finally let the site owner know and offer your content as a replacement and you'll receive a free backlink.

That's it and lets move to our strategy number 3.

3. Become a source for reporters and bloggers

If you wish to rank on google you need to build links from authority news sites and blogs in your industry. Luckily it isn't as hard as it probably sounds , in fact it is very doable due to a service known as HARO

What you have to do is simple. Haro connects bloggers and reporters that need sources to people that need links or press mentions. To be clear this strategy needs work and its not easy at all but this is one of the most effective way to build quality links at scale. Lets dive into step by step process.

 a) Register yourself as a source.

b) Once you are registered as a source you will receive three emails a day from reporters looking for sources. When you find a request that seems like good fit, send them your pitch.

4. .Edu Resource Page Link Building

Its no secret that links from .edu websites are superpowerfull but how do you actually get university sites to link to you.

Here's how it works. Most universities have resource pages that could help their student and faculty.

Here's an example of resource page of college of canyon that links to content.

Lets learn the step by step process

a) First find a resource page like the one I showed above. To do that pop these search strings on google.

Site.edu"Your Keyword"                                                                                                                  Site.edu"Your Keyword"+"Resources"                                                                                        Site.edu"Your Keyword"+inurl:links                                                                                           Site.edu"Your Keyword"+"Other Sites"

Then check if your content is a good fit for the resource page.

Finally email the person running the site and here's the script I use.

Now keep this in mind only 5% of sites you reach out to will actually add your link. Remember even 1 or 2 of these links can make a massive difference in your Google rankings.

Moving Man Method

The moving man method is simple.

  1. Lets dive into step by step process

1.First find pages that have:

  • Shut down
  • Stopped updating a resource
  • Changed names
  • Moved to a new URL
  • Stopped offering a service

How about an example?

A site named expertsystem.com rebranded itself to expert.ai like shown below:

After I heard the news, I realized that this was a PERFECT opportunity to reach out to the hundreds of people still linking to the outdated expert.ai URLs.

2. The second step is to look out for sites still linking to old, outdated URL

Now that you’ve found a site that recently re-branded or a site feature that’s no longer there, it’s time to find all of the links pointing to that page.

Just grab the URL and head to any backlink tool like ahrefs and export all backlinks to that site.

Then, check out all the sites that link to the old URLs.

You should find few a few link oppurtunities to work with. However, you should focus on sites with highest Domain Authority(DA)

3.Last step is to reach to these sites and ask for links

Your last step is to reach out to all the people that still link to the outdated source

Finally let them know that they are linking to something which is outdated
